Asur Web Series Plot
Directed in the backdrop of a mythical city Varanasi, Asur revolves around the life of main three characters: A Serial Killer who is gifted by God and believes in Asura and dark side of the World, Nikhil Nair (Barun Sobti)- A former CBI officer, who is living with his family and teaching Forensic Science to the students in FBI HQ, Dhananjay Rajput (Arshad Warsi)- A senior CBI officer, specialized in solving murder mysteries and very intelligent. The life of all three characters are somehow linked to each other, and from there, the journey begins.
The web series starts with Nikhil Nair, who was receiving different coordinates of various locations of Indiawhere a serial killer was discarding dead bodies of innocent people. On one of the location, Nikhil receives, CBI locates another corpse- brutally killed, the body is burnt to the ground and mutilated by Dogs with the index finger is missing. To find the details about the body, Senior CBI officer Dhananjay Rajput along with senior scientist Nusrat Saeed performs the autopsy of the body. But Dhananjay Rajput receives the biggest shock when he came to know that the unknown dead body is of none other than his wife. On the other hand, a scene of 11 years ago shows the story of a young child Shubh, who at the ghat of Varanasi performs rituals with his father and later his father drowns in water and died. But Shubh doesn’t show any kind of grief or pain over his father’s death, and it seems like he purposely poisoned his Dad, for which he got punished by Dhananjay Rajput with some false proofs.
Meanwhile, Nikhil Nair is unhappy with his teaching job and wants to pursue his old job in CBI, but his wife doesn’t agree with this because Nikhil had a bad experience with his senior Dhananjay Rajput. Confused with the fact of how he is related to all these deaths, Nikhil decides to join CBI again to find all these answers and return to India. While working on Dhananjay’s wife’s murder case, all the evidence points towards Dhananjay Rajput, and he got arrested for the murder.

But the serial killing doesn’t stop there, and Nikhil still receives unknown coordinates and dead bodies, which makes him realize that he might make a mistake in finding the right killer of Dhananjay’s Wife. But before he could do anything, he got trapped by the real serial killer who kidnapped Nikhil and uses him for his evil plan. What is that Evil Plan and Who is this secret serial killer? Why is this serial killer killing innocent people? Will Nikhil help the serial killer for the sake of his family? Will Dhananajay be able to help Nikhil and Find the real serial killer?

Oni Sen beautifully presented a very unique concept of Evil vs God in the form of mythology and criminal thriller in Asur Web Series. Shubh, who is a born psychopath and mistreated by his father from his birth, makes him believe in evil, and he starts considering himself as an Asura of the Kaliyug. Born with special qualities, Shubh decides to challenge God’s Avatar Vishnu to come on the earth by killing innocent people who born in a special muhurat. His terrified childhood indicates that every person born as an innocent child; it is his/her circumstances that make him good or bad. The same thing happens with our two heroes of this series: Nikhil Nair and Dhananjay Rajput. Both these characters are known in the web series for their honest and good qualities, but what will happen to their morality when the life of their love ones is at stake? This web series shows that both evil and good are present in every person, but who they choose depends upon their situations and circumstances.

On the other hand, Nikhil Nair played the role of a brilliant CBI officer who believes in instinct and thinks more emotionally than rationally. In this web series, he showed his love for his family and his duty and up to which extent a person can go to save the lives of his love ones. Ridhi Dogra who played the role of Senior Scientist Nusrat Sayeed also did justice with her role. Her selfless love towards Nikhil and her duty will make you fall in love with her. Shubh, on the other hand, will make you believe in the dark side of humanity and Religion. Apart from all these main characters, Sharib Hashmi brilliantly played his role as Lolark Dubey and emerged out as a true friend and CBI officer who keeps his duty above his family.
It will be an injustice to refer to this web series as the Criminal Thriller web series only. Because this web series is much more than that. It is a mixture of emotions like Love, Hate, Betrayal, Loss, Pain, Anger, Failure, Belief in Good Vs. Bad and what not. Indian Mythology is presented excellently with suspense and thriller in this web series, and you will not be able to judge who is right and who is wrong in this web series. But one thing we can surely say is that you will be speechless after watching this masterpiece.
