Recently, Nvidia introduced the CMP GPUs, which is an abbreviation for Cryptocurrency Mining Processor, in an effort to reduce the cost of mining cryptocurrency using graphics cards designed specifically for gaming.

Starting with the Nvidia CMP 30HX and 40HX, the CMP 30HX, 40HX, 50HX, 90hx, & 170hx hashrateGPUs will be available in the first quarter of 2021, with the Nvidia CMP 30HX and 40HX being the first to ship. In accordance with Nvidia's specification sheet, four GPUs are planned, with the more powerful 50HX and 90HX variants scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2021.

If you can find anything recent with these hash-rates, these CMP graphics cards are said to be more efficient at Ethereum mining than the typical consumer graphics card.

Furthermore, these models do not correspond to Nvidia's standard SKUs, implying that they are made up of binned-out chips from the Ampere and possibly even Turing families, according to the company. Those who did not make the final cut, to be precise.

According to NiceHash, the NVIDIA CMP HX90 mining GPU is a headless mining GPU. An acronym for "Cryptocurrency Mining Processor" is a shorthand way of saying "Cryptocurrency Mining Processor." While the HX90 doesn't have as much graphics processing power as the RTX 3080, it does have a wider bus width and more VRAM. In contrast to its gaming cousin, it differs from it primarily in the number of cores it has, its TMUS, and a few other specifications that are not required for mining.

The HX90 is currently available for purchase for around $2000, which is a high price for a headless GPU. This is especially true now that mining software is beginning to crack the hash rate limiter on the RTX 3000 series cards.

Conclusion

Using the default parameters in NiceHash Miner, the stock hashrate results from benchmarking the HX90 were obtained. When the DaggerHashimoto algorithm is run at 90 MH/s, it appears as though the GPU has already been (at least partially) optimized for the method. About 250 watts of power were consumed by the system overall.

Upon the success of their initial tests with NiceHash Miner, they developed QuickMiner and OCTune, which proved to be the most successful overclocking software available. Simply put, they have identified the fastest, most stable memory clock possible at +900 MHz. Within 10 minutes of tuning, they conducted an autotune, which found that the best core clock limit for performance was 1740 MHz (absolute value), and for efficiency, it was 1380 MHz (absolute value) after that. Surprisingly, they were unable to drastically cut the amount of power consumed. It is only possible down to a maximum of 220 watts.
