According to the preliminary analysis of US pharmaceutical company Pfizer, the Covid-19 vaccine that it has been developing is found to be 90% effective on people who did not have any Covid symptoms. Pfizer officially announced this on Monday.

Pharmaceutical company Pfizer has partnered with BioNTech to conduct human trials on people in about 6 countries. It has conducted trials on 43,500 people so far. The company has stated in its recent press release that it is planning to launch the vaccine by the end of this month after getting emergency approval from the FDA.

With Covid cases on a surge, globally, this plan by Pfizer is considered as a goodwill motive. But, safety concerns should also be checked before, if the launch happens anytime soon.

Drug company Pfizer is expecting the vaccine to meet the safety criteria by November third week, after which it will apply for Emergency Use Authorization. If the vaccine is approved by the FDA, it will be given to people in two shots within 21 days as the interval gap.

Pfizer Chairman and CEO Albert Bourla has stated that it is a great day today for science and humanity. He also added that they are reaching this critical milestone in their vaccine development program at a time when the world needs it most. He said the infection rates are setting new records, hospitals are nearing over-capacity and economies are struggling to reopen.

According to Pfizer, it can produce about 50 million Covid vaccine doses for global use by this year. By 2021, it will be able to produce up to 1.3 billion doses.

The US is one of the most affected countries from Covid-19. Post presidential elections, the country is seeing a vast amount of fresh infections.
