Season Overview: The NYPD’s 99th precinct (which is fictional, of course) sees Raymond Holt becomes its lead captain. However, things don’t look so nice when almost immediately, he clashes with Jake Peralta.

An immature, childish adult; more like the character of a baby stuck in the body of a grown-up, Jake and Holt grow the feelings of instant dislike for each other. Jake, on the other hand, even after being a kid at heart, had the brains of a brainiac.

An excellent detective with amazing problem-solving skills (by problems here, we mean cases) it’s almost impossible to discard him out of the group. The season sees Charles Boyle getting shot in the butt when he was trying to save Detective Rosa Diaz, who was also his partner.

Charles also had a seemingly subtle grudge against Holt. Then, the NYPD squad get invited to Holt’s humble abode to a party organized by him and his husband Kevin and get an inside scoop into his personal life.

Meanwhile, Charles also gets into a relationship with another woman called Vivian, which is unfortunately short-lived and ends when their engagement gets called off.

Elsewhere, Peralta starts to develop romantic feelings for his detective co-partner, Amy Santiago when he wins a bet against her which was basically them going on a fake date where they ended up having a great time in actuality.

However, Jake starts to date a cop she knew before Jake, named Teddy, which makes Peralta jealous. In the end, we see Peralta going undercover.

Season Overview: In the previous Index of Brooklyn 99 part, we saw Jake go undercover to take the mafia down. However, when he returns to the precinct he returns disheartened because one of the mobsters successfully manages to escape his clutches.

Following this, he enters into a romantic relationship with a defence lawyer, named Sophia Perez. Although it is only short-lived and gets over pretty soon due to the difference in their professions.

Amy was dating a cop whom she knew for a long time, Teddy, back in season one. Season two sees them split up due to personal reasons. In a completely different, oblivious of it all scenario, Holt continues to fight the battle of wits with Deputy Commissioner Madeleine Wuntch.

So much so that resultantly, it ends up with Wuntch appointing Raymond Holt as the head of the NYPD Public Affairs Division. But this also called for a sad goodbye of his to the Nine-Nine. Charles and Gina were in a secret affair, but unfortunately, the cat has been let out of the bag accidentally, bringing their affair to public notice.

Soon after this, Charles’ dad and Gina’s mom get married which makes things take a turn for the worse, presumably. Meanwhile, Rosa enters into a romantic relationship with Raymond Holt’s nephew, Marcus.

And finally, something that all fans were waiting for the love between Peralta and Amy finally blossoms. Jake and Amy kiss while they are on an undercover mission, prompting a relationship to kindle.

Season Overview: Jake and Amy sharing a kiss see new heights in season 3. Peralta and Santiago finally decide to get serious about each other and pursue an actual relationship.

Also, the Nine-Nine precinct gets a new captain to school them over Seth Dozerman. However, things don’t stay fun and games anymore when Seth dies of a heart attack upon seeing Jake and Amy share a kiss.

After Seth’s sudden demise, the Vulture volunteers to take the 99th precinct over as its captain. But his captaincy turns out to be a short-lived one. Peralta and Raymond solve a case together, collaborate and catch a serial killer which prompts Holt to resume control over Nine-Nine as its captain again.

Charles, as usual, continues with his affairs and starts another romantic relationship this time with Genevieve, who was allegedly blamed for insurance fraud previously. Meanwhile, Terry’s wife gives birth to their third child named Ava on Thanksgiving.

In a totally different scenario, Rosa breaks up with Raymond’s nephew Marcus, whom she started dating in season 1, and enters a new romantic relationship with Adrian Pimento. Adrian was a detective who had been working as an undercover agent for twelve years now.

Rosa and Adrian get engaged, but their happiness doesn’t last for long, as Adrian gets compelled to go into hiding when Jimmy “The Butcher” Figgis appoints someone from the FBI to hunt him down and kill him.

To solve the case, Amy goes undercover into the women’s prison to find out who was the man after Adrian’s life, and finds out that it was Holt’s former partner, Bob Anderson. They get Holt of Bob, capture him, and interrogate and investigate him intensely to take the whole of Figgis empire down.

Peralta gets a call from Figgis who threatens to endanger his and Holt’s life, which compels both of them to travel to Florida to seek protection.

Season Overview: As mentioned and what happens in the previous season’s finale. Season 4 opens right where the previous one left off in Florida with Jake and Holt seeking protection and in a witness program till Nine-Nine finds out a way to get rid of Figgis.

The squad even gets punished but shifts them to night duty, much to everyone’s dismay. However, they switch back to the day shift later when Captain Jason Stently takes control of the precinct upon getting transferred due to his incompetence. (Captain Jason Stently was popularly called by his initials, “C.J.”).

Meanwhile, Charles and Genevieve’s romance reaches new heights, and so does their love when they jointly adopt a son, Nikolaj. Adrian returns from hiding and kickstarts his pending romance with Rosa.

However, after a series of incidents they mutually agree that it would be best for them to put the whole relationship off the table for the time being, and take time to get to know each other before plunging into love. Which is also the reason why they call their wedding off, even after being engaged for long now.

Jake and Amy move in together into an apartment and instantaneously go into a bet whose terms where whichever of them catches the most number of criminals, gets to keep the apartment in the end.

Meanwhile, things take a turn when Gina gets almost fatally hit by a bus and then learns that she is pregnant with a Boyle cousin’s child, Milton. And in her pregnant state and amidst tumultuous incidents, she saves the 99th precinct from shutting down as well.

On the other hand, Terry becomes a victim of racial profiling. Jake and Rosa, both compete for the neck to neck to secure a spot on Lt. Hawkins’ task force. However, Hawkins turns out to be a fraud cop who was used to playing dirty, thanks to when he framed both Peralta and Rosa for bank robbery.

Surprisingly, they are marked guilty by the jury and each gets sentenced to jail for a fifteen-year period, much to everyone’s surprise.

Season Overview: The Nine-Nine finally can let the cat out of the bag and bring Hawkins dirty trickery to the eyes of the public, when Holt gets compelled to enter into a deal with a local mobster named Seamus Murphy.

Rosa and Jake get released from jail, however, things don’t turn out to be so smooth and easy when Jake realizes that he just isn’t ready to be out and about on the field right away. After being released, Rosa calls it quits with Adrian as well.

Things take a turn for the better when during the fifth annual Halloween heist, Jake finally proposes to Amy and both of them get engaged. The squad leaves on a trip to Los Angeles to attend the funeral of the former captain of the 99th precinct.

On the way, Holt realizes that he is in the running and has a fair shot at becoming the new police commissioner. Upon learning this, the squad promises to work together to help him bring Murphy down. And to everyone’s surprise, Rosa comes out and finally confesses that she is bisexual.

To everyone’s happiness, Gina returns to the squad too, after being on maternity leave for several months. The squad finally finds a workaround to help Holt maintain his deal with Murphy without breaking his principles of moral conduct so that he can become the new police commissioner.

However, Murphy gets to know about this and threatens to take away Kevin’s life. The squad decides to force Kevin to stay in a safe house with Jake for two months so that Murphy is unable to track him down.

They finally can track down Murphy’s hideout, and Kevin emerges as the hero when he takes Murphy and mobsters down. In a whole different scenario, Charles launches his own food truck business and Amy manages to pass the Sergeant’s exam.

And probably the most cop-like, romantic thing ever to happen Jake and Amy’s wedding plans fall apart when a bomb threat occurs in their location, so instead, they get married outside the precinct!

The finale episode ends with a scene of the squad enjoying an after-party and wondering whether Holt bagged the title of the police commissioner or not.

Season Overview: It is finally revealed that Holt lost to John Kelly in regards to the police commissioner title, which makes him sink into a deep depression. Thus, Jake and Amy cheer him up and encourage him to stand up against Kelly’s regressive policies.

However, this only results in the new commissioner, aka John Kelly, harbouring a feeling of contempt and disregard for the 99th precinct. Elsewhere, gina recognizes that her talent practically lies in fame and influence, and thus quits her job and instantly becomes a famous internet celebrity.

As marriage life problems set in, Jake and Amy get into a debate on whether having kids is a good idea or not. Meanwhile, Terry successfully passes the Lieutenant exam, and finally, for the first time in forever, manages to bag the winning position in the “Cinco de Mayo” Heist, aka Halloween Heist.

However, to everyone’s dismay, they learn that the Nine-Nine precinct does not have enough funds on them to make him stay, and thus it might be possible that Terry will be transferred to Staten Islands instead. On the other hand, Jake and Holt learn that Kelly is using an anonymous tip application.

They thus decide to take in some of his old rivals into work in Nine-Nine, so that they can seek their help and expose Kelly’s crimes publicly. Jake and Wuntch manage to pull off a fake kidnapping, which results in Kelly being suspended and Wuntch being appointed as the acting commissioner.

She then utilizes her power and position to make sure that Terry stays in Nine-Nine, and Holt compensates for his patrol officer days.
