Kareena Kapoor Khan, sometimes known as "Bollywood's Begum," is one of India's most attractive and powerful actresses. Refugee was her breakout single in 2000, and she has subsequently enjoyed a streak of hit singles.

Biography Of Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor is a Bollywood actress who has appeared in several films.

She was born on September 21, 1980, in Bombay, which we now refer to as "Mumbai." Her parents, as well as her younger sister, are actors and actresses. She has portrayed a wide range of characters in films ranging from romantic comedies to crime thrillers. She was always exposed in many films at an early age, which led her to pursue a career as an actress. Nargis and Meena Kumari, two Indian actors, were her inspirations. Her father forbade her from working as an actress, therefore she was raised alone by her mother. He believed that it was the job of women to care for the home and family, which caused them to split up.

Her mother worked multiple jobs to support her till she made her acting debut in 1991. Her parents ultimately reconciled in October 2007. "My father is also a significant part of my life," she said. She finally referred to them as a family after living apart for long years. Kareena Kapoor went to Mumbai's Jamnabai Narsee School and then Welham Girl's School. Even though she obtained good results in all subjects save mathematics, she despises academics. She returned to Mumbai after graduating from Welham and studied commerce at Mithibai College for two years. She then enrolled in a three-month microcomputers course at Harvard Summer School.

She thereafter took an interest in law and enrolled at Mumbai's Government Law College. She established a lifelong love of reading at this time. She opted to pursue her interest in acting after completing her first year, although regretting not finishing her studies. Kapoor began her acting studies in Mumbai, where she was mentored by Kishore Namit Kapoor, a member of the Film and Television Institute of India. She established herself with roles in historical drama and melodrama after her debut in 2000. When she was followed by a string of commercial failures and recurring parts, she received negative feedback.

The year 2004, when she played a sex worker in a drama and was marked as a turning point for her, was a watershed moment for her. She has received praise for her portrayal of a riot victim in the play Dev, as well as a role based on William Shakespeare's heroine. Simultaneously, she received accolades from the internet for her roles in the romantic comedy "Jab We Met" (2007), the thrillers Kurbaan (2009) and Talaash: The Answer Lies Within (2012), and the dramas We Are Family (2010), Heroine (2012), and Udta Punjab (2016). The action thriller Singham Returns (2014), the comedy Good Newwz (2019), and the dramas 3 Idiots (2009), Bodyguard (2011), and Bajrangi Bhaijaan are among her highest-grossing films (2015). She was cast as the lead in Rakesh Roshan's Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai while still at the Institute (2000).

She eventually dropped out of the project, but she explained that if she didn't do it, she would gain from it. As a result, she decided to call it a day on that project. Later that year, she made her acting debut in J. P. Dutta's war drama Refugee, with Abhishek Bachchan. Set during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani conflict, Kapoor plays Naaz, a Bangladeshi girl who falls in love with Bachchan's character. Dutta cast her because of the mix of youth and innocence he saw in her, and Kapoor saw their partnership as a valuable learning experience that benefited her both personally and professionally.

Critic Taran Adarsh called Kapoor "a natural performer" who highlighted "the ease with which she emotes the most difficult of moments" in a piece for Bollywood Hungama, and India Today said she was part of a new breed of Hindi film performers that break away from character cliches. In India, Refugee was a moderate box office success, and Kapoor won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her performance. According to a review in The Hindu, she was "certainly the actress to watch out for" based on her first two films. She then appeared in Subhash Ghai's flop Yaadein with Jackie Shroff and Hrithik Roshan, followed by Abbas-moderately Mustan's successful thriller Ajnabee with Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, and Bipasha Basu.

Later the same year, she starred in Santosh Sivan's period epic Aoka, which is based on the life of the Indian ruler of the same name but is largely fabricated. With Shah Rukh Khan as the leading man, Kapoor had a difficult time portraying the complicated nature of her character Kaurwaki (a Kalingan princess), with whom Ashoka falls in love. Aoka premiered at the Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals in 2001, and while it garnered generally excellent reviews worldwide, it did not perform well in India, which critics blamed on the way Ashoka was represented.

The Deseret News' Jeff Vice called Kapoor "riveting" and praised her on-screen presence. Was, on the other hand, more critical, determining that her appearance in the picture was solely for aesthetic reasons. Aoka was nominated for five prizes at the 47th Filmfare Awards, including a Best Actress nomination for Kapoor. According to Box Office India, the success of Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham cemented Kapoor's position as a top actress in Hindi film. She became the highest-paid Indian actress at the time with Aoka, receiving $15 million (US$210,000) per picture, according to reports. During the years 2002 and 2003, Kapoor continued to work on a variety of projects, but he hit a snag.

Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Jeena Sirf Merre Liye, Talaash: The Hunt Begins..., Khushi, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, and the four-hour war epic LOC Kargil—all six films in which she acted were critically and commercially unsuccessful. Critics compared her performances in these films to "variations of the same role" she played in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham , and worried that she was being typecast. She later spoke favorably of this time, citing it as a valuable experience that led her to "push harder and improve things," and she has admitted to taking these parts for the money rather than the creative value. Karan Johar cast Kapoor as Pooja ("Poo," a good-natured, superficial girl) in the 2001 melodrama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, which marked a turning point in her career.

Along with a large ensemble cast. She didn't see much of a resemblance between herself and her "over-the-top" character, so she based Poo's personality on Johar's. Kapoor says she had a terrific time filming the big-budget production, and she remembers it fondly: It was an amazing pleasure doing [the film] and we had joy. Working with the unit and the six mega star cast was a dream come true."Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was a huge hit, becoming India's second highest-grossing picture of the year and Kapoor's highest-grossing film up to that moment. It was also one of the most successful

Bollywood films of all time in the international market, grossing more than 1 billion (US$14 million) globally. Kapoor received her second Filmfare nomination for the role—her first for Best Supporting Actress—as well as nominations from the International Indian Academy (IIFA) and the Screen Awards. Taran Adarsh called her "one of the main highlights of the film," and she received nominations from the International Indian Academy (IIFA) and the Screen Awards.
