Kim Kardashian West has released a 2-minute sneak peek because of her documentary about mass incarceration,”The Justice Project,” set to debut in April.

“I went into this knowing nothing, after which my heart fully opened ,” West said in the trailer for the documentary, that will accompany the stories of four distinct incarceration cases.

The celebrity said that being a mommy has transferred her to do it on prison reform.

“I am raising four black kids that may face a scenario like some of those people whom I help,” she told colleagues in the Television Critics Association on Saturday. “Just to know I could really make a difference in my children’s lives and (other people ) by helping mend a broken system, that is so inspiring for me”

In 2018, the actress persuaded President Donald Trump to grant clemency to 63-year old grandma Alice Johnson, who was serving a life sentence for first-time non-violent drug offenses.

“While this Administration will probably always be quite tough on offense, it considers that individuals people who have paid their debt to society and worked hard to better themselves while in prison deserve another chance,” the White House said at a statement in the moment.

Johnson’s emotional commutation and discharge from prison ravaged West to pursue a law degree, and she is currently studying to select the pub in 2022.

As stated by this American Civil Liberties Union, the US has nearly 25percent of the worldwide prison population, also”one out of every 3 Black boys born now can expect to go to prison in his life.”

West stated she expects her documentary can help folks”be empathetic” about giving offenders a second chance at life.

“Every case I pick is personal to me, and also lots of the time that it’s out of a letter I get from somebody on the inside that only really touches my heart,” she explained.
