‘Star Trek: Picard’ Actor Jonathan Del Arco Launches’Hollywood Caucus’ Podcast With First Guest Jeri Ryan
Jonathan Del Arco is going into the intersection of politics and entertainment.
On Tuesday, the”Star Trek: Picard” actor debuted his brand new podcast”Hollywood Caucus,” with jeweled Tara Karsian. Hailing from Dan Harmon’s Starburns Audio, the podcast will contain interviews with characters from the entertainment business and the political world. For your premiere episode, Del Arco’s”Star Trek: Picard” co-star Jeri Ryan will appear as the first guest.
“Tara and I’ve been in the market a collective 250 years” Del Arco joked,”and we’ve made some fantastic friends who’ll be joining us each week to discuss their exceptionally inspiring careers and lifestyles and, yes, their own political perspectives.”
Del Arco is famous for his role as Hugh Borg, which he originated on”Star Trek: The Next Generation” and reprises at”Star Trek: Picard,” which premieres Jan. 23 on CBS All Access. Karsian has appeared in”American Horror Story” and co-wrote, produced, and starred in the feature movie”BFF’s,” which originated in The Santa Barbara Film Festival.
At the premiere episode, Ryan — who previously starred on”Star Trek: Voyager” — and Del Arco discussed the politics of”Star Trek” and its creator, Gene Roddenberry. “Star Trek was designed for a political statement,” Ryan said in the meeting. “Gene intentionally made it to be, you understand the first interracial kiss, a black, a Russian at the center of the Cold War, a Western about the Bridge following WW2… that was intentional.” She added,”That is exactly what Star Trek has ever been pointing out problems within our society at a nonthreatening manner… it is holding up a mirror… so yes of course it is political so that I really don’t understand how you can see that show, not take away that message.”
