Teen Patti 2023 Guide On Betting
Teen Patti is one of the most popular Indian games you can play at several fully licensed online casinos. It is very much like a popular poker variant called Three Card Brag (Teen Patti translates in English to Three Cards).
Here are the basic rules for Teen Patti for beginners. You can also find out where to play Teen Patti if you live in India.
What is Teen Patti?
Teen Patti (which is otherwise known as 3 Patti or Three Patti) is a popular card game commonly played in South Asia. It's basically the same as Three Card Poker, so if you're familiar with this game, you can easily play this modified version.
The game used to be played on special occasions and at various Hindu celebrations, such as Diwali, but it's now played all throughout the year at many fully licensed Indian casino sites, such as the official 10CRIC10.com website.

How To Play Teen Patti Online
If you want to know how to play teen patti online, let's dive straight in. The game is played with a standard 52-card deck of playing cards, and although it can be played against other players, when playing at online casinos, you generally only have to try and beat the dealer.
The aim is simple. You must try to obtain the best possible three-card hand to beat the dealer based on the standard winning poker hands. You start by placing your ante bet. When this initial wager has been placed, you and the dealer will immediately be drawn three cards each. The dealer's cards are dealt face-down.
Based on the strength of your hand, you can either continue playing by equalling your initial ante bet, or you can exit the round by folding. If you fold, the game will end, and you can start again, but if you continue by placing another bet, as soon as your chips have been placed, the dealer's cards will be turned over to see who has won.
The dealer has to qualify with a queen-high card or better to play the hand. If the dealer can't beat a queen high, regardless of the strength of your hand, you are guaranteed a payout (your initial ante bet is returned). It's that simple.
What Are The Winning Hands In Teen Patti?
Teen Patti has many different winning hand possibilities, and if you're new to the game or unfamiliar with poker, they shouldn't take too long to learn. Let's take a quick look at the winning hands in ascending order of value, starting with the weakest:
- High card (so no pairs) – if both players have the same value high card, the other two cards in both hands are compared based on their values to determine the winner
- Pair (aka double) – this is two cards of the same rank, so 2-2 (weakest) or A-A (strongest). The player with the highest pair is the winner. If you both have the same pair, the third card in both hands are compared to determine the winner. Therefore a 4-4-J beats a 4-4-9 hand. The lowest possible hand with a pair would be 2-2-3, and the best possible hand with a pair would be A-A-K
- Flush (colour) – this is when all three cards in a hand are from the same suit (e.g., 4-J-Q of spades, or 9-3-2 of hearts, and so on). If both players have a flush, the player with the highest-valued card(s) wins. In the extremely rare circumstance that players both have a flush with the same value cards, the winner is determined by the suit (clubs is the weakest and spades is the strongest)
- Straight (run) – when a hand contains three cards in sequential order in any suit (e.g., 4-5-6 off-suit, 10-J-Q off-suit, and so on). It stops at K and starts at 2. Therefore, a hand with K-A-2 is not a valid straight
- Straight flush (pure sequence) – the same as above, also known as a Pure run or Shahi, but the three cards must be of the same suit. Therefore, the best straight flush is A-K-Q of spades, and the lowest valued straight flush would be considered a 2-3-4 of clubs
- Three of a kind (trio) – this is the best possible winning hand when you have three matching cards. The strongest three-card winning hand would be A-A-A and the weakest is 2-2-2
What Are The Payouts In Teen Patti, And Are There Any Side Bets/special Bets?
If the dealer qualifies, and you win with a high card, you will receive a 1:1 payout (even money, therefore, your stake returned). It's also 1:1 when you win, and the dealer doesn't qualify.
The optional side bets you can often find are Ante Bonus, Pair Plus, and a 6 Card Bonus. If you win the Ante Bonus with a straight, you will receive a 1:1 payout. With a three of a kind, it's 4:1, and with a straight flush or higher, it's 5:1.
You can win a Pair Plus side bet with a pair (pays 1:1), flush (4:1), straight (5:1), three of a kind (30:1), straight flush (40:1), or mini royal (100:1), and you can win a 6 card bonus with three of a kind (7:1), straight (10:1), flush (15:1), full house (20:1), four of a kind (100:1), straight flush (200:1), and a royal flush (1,000:1).
