The virus has been supposed to have originally jumped from animals to people at a fish industry. Scientists have since verified it could spread from human to human.
Most cases are in China, approximately Wuhan especially, but cases have been verified in at least eight different states: Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. Four individuals in Scotland are being tested for the virus.
US health officials began screening incoming passengers from Wuhan at airports past week. On the other hand, the screening didn’t stop infected passengers from getting onto airplanes at the first place, maybe spreading the virus.
Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways said on Thursday it would enable cabin crew to use medical masks while functioning on flights to or from mainland China, based on Channel News Asia.
Airports in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and South Korea are screening passengers.
The whole town of Wuhan was quarantined from the Chinese authorities as officials race to contain the spread of this virus. Five other cities have also been placed under quarantine orders — roughly 23 million individuals are affected.
The virus is indicated by fevers and pneumonia-like symptoms. Public health officials are especially worried on account of the timing of this epidemic coinciding with the active Lunar New Year travel span.
