Seconds after pledging to”pause” to honor Martin Luther King, Jr., President Donald Trump introduced back to politics with gusto, attacking Democrats and expressing support for gun activists carrying a rally in Richmond, Virginia.

At 10:24 a.m. on Monday,” the White House issued a tweet quoting Trump, that stated:”Now we pause to honor the unbelievable life and achievements of Dr. King, that helped shape the Civil Rights Movement, gave hope to millions inducing discrimination, and whose enduring memory motivates us to pursue a more just and equal society.”

Nineteen seconds after, in 10:43 a.m., Trump started tweeting about the “Lobby Day Rally,” where tens of thousands gun-rights activists, members of militia groups, and white supremacists accumulated inx Richmond to voice support to the Second Amendment.

“The Democrat Party at the Great Commonwealth of Virginia are working hard to carry your 2nd Amendment rights. This is simply the start. Do not let it occur, VOTE REPUBLICAN in 2020!” Trump said in 1 tweet.

Then he retweeted a movie shared with Turning Point USA’s Benny Johnson, revealing a group of individuals in the rally singing the”Star Spangled Banner.”

Less than an hour after, he retweeted the White House’s tweet honoring MLK.

MLK, that had been a dominant leader in the Civil Rights Movement, was assassinated by a gunman at 1968.

The pro-gun rally in Richmond on Monday was coordinated from the Virginia Citizens Defense League, who state the rationale behind the event was to voice support to the Second Amendment.

Trump had previously slammed Virginia Democrats over gun laws on Friday, days ahead of Monday’s rally.

“Your 2nd Amendment is under very significant assault at the Great Commonwealth of Virginia,” the president tweeted on Friday evening. “That is what happens when you vote for Democrats, they’ll take away your firearms. Republicans will acquire Virginia in 2020. Thank you Dems!” 

His service came later law enforcement arrested three suspected white supremacists in Maryland and Delaware who officers said threatened violence in the pro-gun rally.
