HBO has launched a trailer for Beforeigners, a six-part sci-fi drama that debuted in Norway final 12 months and is simply now starting a U.S. run. The high-concept story, the primary Norwegian-language collection produced by HBO Europe, explores a world by which folks from the Stone Age, the Viking Age, and the 19th century are mysteriously transported into modern-day Norway. There, some combine into society—like, for instance, an 11th century shield-maiden-turned-investigator performed by Krista Kosonen—whereas others stay enemies of the folks. There’s additionally, apparently, a killer on the free. Okay, then.

In an interview with Variety, co-creator Anne Bjornstad mentioned how the present serves as “an allegory of the refugee disaster and migration points,” and it’s clear from the trailer that the divide between the current inhabitants and people from the previous is stark—some name them “beforeigners,” although it’s extra well mannered to say they’ve a “multi-temporal background.”
